The cover behind the dust jacket contains a drawing by Edoya Pochi who is the artist for the Yurihime version of Aoishiro.

The front cover features Momoko and Yasumi. Momoko has decided to draw “Paradise Zawacchi” where Zawacchi is wearing the clothes of the other characters such as Kohaku. Wai! Kaya-Zawacchi looks so cool! Kohaku-Zawachhi is not bad either.

On the back cover is Syouko apologizing for Momoko’s actions and the other characters say everything’s forgiven since Syouko’s apologizing.

This is definitely the best part of the entire manga. ^__^

Chapter 6

Before the test of courage, the group tells ghost stories in the main temple.
Aoi-sensei tells a story about a headless cow that washed up on shore along withe severed head of a person. There’s a custom in Urashima to offer a sacrifice of a ox to the sea god Kurou-sama.

For the test of courage, Syouko goes with Nami. Nami leads Syouko to the Tokosaki no Tsubaki. When Nami touches the tree, the petals of the tree falls and she recovers her memory and the ability the speak. Nami turns about to be Yasuhime-sama and she says the “sword” is getting closer. She asks Syouko to bring her to Urashima so she can repair the seal on Matamu.

Mouryou surround and attack the two. Syouko manages to fend some of them off but there are too many. She is rescued by Kohaku who summons Oniwaka, an oni to fight off the mouryou.

Chapter 7

Oniwaka proceeds to squash the mouryou while Syouko watches in awe.
Nami then calls Kohaku by the name “Kurou-sama” which surprises Kohaku since that is a name she’s long ago given up.

Nami is about to say more, but the “sword” comes and she collapses due to the sword’s poison. Migiwa arrives and attacks Kohaku thinking she is the one-eyed demon (sekiganki) that has always sought the “sword”. Kohaku says she is not and that she no longer uses the name Kurou-sama, but Kohaku. She also says she is not the one-eyed demon and tells Migiwa to confirm with her boss.

Migiwa calls her boss who confirms this while Kohaku tells Syouko about the Onikiri Group (Demon Slayers).

Kaya then appears with the “sword” and Migiwa and Kohaku fight her which forces her to wield the “sword”. An attack is aimed towards Nami and Syouko rushes to save Nami resulting in her being injured and falling unconscious.

She has a dream about Natsu-nee-san. Syouko wakes up and finds she’s alone with Nami who tells her that the others have crossed over to Urashima.

Chapter 8

Syouko receives a call from Aoi-sensei asking where she is and that Nami has also disappeared. Syouko says Nami is with her. Aoi-sensei says Yasumi has collapsed again. Syouko tell Aoi-sensei about what’s happened and Aoi-sensei says she’ll contact the college acquaintance she visited before who knows a lot about oni.

Syouko wants to hurry to the Tsubaki Forest but Nami suggests they first rest a bit so they rest in one of the caves on the island. Syouko has another dream about Nami when she was younger. In the forest, Natsu-nee-san (Kaya) appears and recognizes Syouko from the hairpin she’s wearing. They’re each surprised the other is alive. Kaya wanted to slay Kurou-sama because she thought Syouko had been sacrificed and that was the only way to save her.

Nami says the barrier around Matamu is collapsing because of the sword but she says it’s ok. She’s about to say more when the one-eyed demon Ba Rouryuu appears with a troupe of mouryou.

He tricked Kaya into stealing the sword and bringing it to him. Kaya goes to fight him but Rouryuu makes a sword out of water. It turns out he is the King of the Water Demons. Migiwa and Kohaku arrive on the scene as Rouryuu is summoning a demon in the shape of an ox.

Special Chapter - Akaiito

Apparently this chapter was previously published in I guess the Comic High magazine, but had never been released in tankouban form.
It takes place in a world where it’s almost like everyone’s good ending has taken place. All the main characters make an appearance except for KEI (Kei’s twin brother)

Uduki is about to slay a vampire but it escapes. She informs Tsudura, who is now the head of the Onikiri Group. Tsudura says Kei also lives in that area and she’s a bit worried.

Masuta walks home together with Kei and tells her that recently there’s been tales of a vampire appearing. On the way home, they see a black cat. Masuta says it resembles a cat that her older sister kept.

Kei arrives home where Yumei is making dinner. Sakuya also shows up saying the Onikiri Group has contacted her about the vampire. Sakuya asks Kei if she noticed anything she says no, but Nozomi appears and says the cat was an oni. Sakuya has a picture of the oni and says it might resemble Masuta.

Masuta and Kei walk home again, but this time an oni appears who is in the shape of Masuta’s older sister Tokiko. Masuta has a flashback of arriving home one day to find the house in shambles and Tama in a pool of blood.

The oni says she’s been looking for Masuta because she needs a new body after being injured and Masuta’s is compatible since she’s been using her sister’s body. Kei says to wait and if she needs blood, she’ll give it. The oni says she’ll just consume both of them. At that time, Uduki comes and rescues Kei. Nozomi also appears. Kei asks her to help stop the oni but Nozomi says her powers won’t work on it. However, she did bring back the oni cat (nekomata) which wants revenge for its owner’s death. Kei gives the cat her special blood the “Nie no Chi” and the oni is defeated.

Later, Yumi asks what happened to the cat and Kei says it’s a stray for now. It turns about Masuta is keeping the cat and looking for an apartment that allows pets.

Notes:

Kohaku is so cool. I want to play her route in the game, but it’s locked so I have to play the other character’s routes first.
I’m curious about her past. She says she dressed up in guy’s clothing after her brother died and I wonder if she was really the one that defeated the Oni King in the legend? And why did Kohaku use the name Kurou-sama also? And when did it become the name for the god of Urashima?

That also makes me confused about the onmyouji that taught the secret medicine to the people of the island. Was that Kohaku or Rouryuu? And if it was Rouryuu, why? It’s interesting to find out there are 2 one-eyed onmyouji. I wonder if they each lost an eye in a fight? Or if both of them just seal it because it conceals some power?

Migiwa’s fighting uniform is also neat. She could definitely be a ninja. Or I guess since she’s a girl, a kunoichi.

Wai! I’m glad I got to see the Akaiito characters back. Too bad I didn’t get a chance to see KEI. I would’ve liked more of Yumei and Sakuya. Yumei only appeared in two scenes. >__<
