katahane extraction/insertion script - courtesty of p4s

shijima January 6th, 2009 1:02 am

p4s has completed a extraction and translation tool for Katahane.
You can get it here
Project Description and screenshots are Here

It’s really cool! It will extract the text from each chapter into a file which can then be edited and reinserted back into the game.
It’ll even calculate the correct number of spaces.

Of course, don’t be an idiot like me and read the README.
You’re supposed to put the translated text after the equal sign of the extracted text, not replace it, and also keep the character’s name.

    Hey, not every school or workplace have good security policy. :D
    People tend to have loose policy unless serious incident had occurred in the past.
    Btw, was the link correct?
    I am unable to access the site, it said “/~carlo17/howto/undelete_ext3 was not found on this server.”

    I would love to see an anime based on Linux Penguin. :3
    I predict the genre would be comedy and maybe the opening song called “Dojikko Linux-chan” :3

    Hehe, yah, by default everyone has root access and we all use the same password on all the machines…

    @Hazuki
    Hehe, well Pingu is about penguins but not Linux. http://www.pingu.net
    I guess the OS-tan (anime personification) for Linux looks a bit dojikko =)

    @Hazuki:
    Oh? It seems that I ate the .html at the end of the link. ^-^; No wonder I had problems with posting the comment… The correct link is here.
    Yeah, there even is a proverb: “Computer users are divided into two categories: those who make backups, and those who will make backups.” ^-^
    @Shijima:
    …Uh. ^-^;
    About OS-tan, you mean the girl with a geared helmet? In most pictures she looks rather competent, I`d say. I must admit, I imagined Linux as more of a “crazy bookworm” character. ^-^;

    @Shijima:
    Most OS-tan is dojikko like. :3
    Though windows 95 is my favourite.

    @Winterbraid:
    I think I belong to former.

    Hehe, win95 is the one in kimono, true? I take it you like kimonos. :3
  6. Hazukion January 19th 2009 10:30 am
    Yeah, that one.
    And I like kimono, yukata and now kariginu too. :3

    Very good news regarding Katahane: It’s made a last-minute entry into the final shortlist of candidates for translation by Amaterasu Translations, who did Cross Channel and Sekien no Inganock. The winner will get the translation, so to you and anyone else here who’s interested in Katahane, I thought I should encourage you to get registered with the forum and vote! The poll commences in 17 hours (11/23, 9 PM central U.S. time :D). I especially thought I’d post here because your Katahane website has been the source of a lot of people’s interest in the game, including mine, and I linked it on the board a few times.

    Poll page: http://amaterasu.is.moelicious.be/poll/
    Main forum: http://amaterasu.is.moelicious.be/forums/index.php?board=8.0

    And I made an introduction post for Katahane, which you’re very welcome to link to: http://amaterasu.is.moelicious.be/forums/index.php?topic=83.msg2976#msg2976 [beware that there are some H images posted there]

    ALL HAIL KATAHANE! :D

    Even more Katahane news! Less than a month after the Amaterasu poll, too :D This appeared two days ago:

    Yes, this is the TLWiki page for a fledgling Katahane project! It seems the dream is going to come true :3

    The plan is to translate Tabi no Hajimari (the prologue/demo) first, and then possibly the rest of the game based on response and support. The half-translated first script is on the site, and it’s quite well done IMO - the translator’s handle of “I failed jp302″ is not deserved XD

    Currently the team only consists of one translator, and the listing page says hackers, TL checkers, editors and QCers are all being sought. If you want to support an effort for an English Katahane someday, it looks like this is your chance!

    Wow. That is incredible news.
    Thank you for letting me know.
    I agree, the translation is excellent.
    A long time ago, I had translated the first scene too (though manually adding whitespace was a pain),
    and the Wiki translation is definitely better than mine. =)
    I don’t have any bandwidth to help out, but it definitely gets my thanks and appreciation.

    I guess one issue for working on the full game would be whether the updated patch will be used for translation or not because I think it fixes the starting scenarios (and you can pick the Kurohane route directly also) and other typos I think.
    Though all the CG are the same.
