aoishiro pc version - demo

shijima October 3rd, 2008

Success just released the trial for the PC Version on October 3rd.
It doesn’t have any additional content from the trial version for PS2 so unless you’re a fanatic, there’s no reason to download it (Really, I’m not.)
Especially since the trial is now a whopping 432 MB!
I guess Windows menus and stuff adds that much overhead? -__-
It’s available for pre-order at the Success website and Amazon, though Amazon won’t ship the game overseas. >__<

The interface is a bit changed.
There's of course a menu bar now, and additional icons to quick save and quick load.
The default window size is also a bit larger and the script window doesn't stretch across the entire screen.
I actually don't think the dictionary of terms (green book icon) is necessary since you can get to it from the menu and you can mouse-over any terms in blue and click on them to open up the entry in the dictionary.

Of more relevance to this site at least is whether translation is possible.
And, YES, it does seem possible for the script at least.
Success has kept the same AFS format though some things like the mouse-over for dictionary terms will probably be lost.
The script is a little different from the demo so everything will probably have to be redone.
I basically hex-edited the previous demo which is why it took forever.
I'm sure someone can come up with a better plan.
So, any volunteers? :D

girlxgirlxboy

GirlxGirlxBoy by KUJIRA

Fuuka (girl) likes her childhood friends Riri (girl).
On the other hand, Riri likes Itta (boy) who bullied Fuuka as a kid.
And Itta likes Fuuka, who he bullied…
What will be the end result of this unproductive love triangle?

Seems some people really liked this, while other people thought it was trite and cliche.
It’s interesting that there’s such a range of opinion, probably because there was not overt yuri?
I personally don’t consider it a true happy ending since what love triangle could end with all 3 people completely happy? :p
Reading the author’s comments made me feel a bit better though.
The extra pages after chapter 5 and 6 were amusing.

aoishiro - pc version

shijima August 19th, 2008

Thanks to Natsuki-MaiHime for the news and the links!

Official Site
4Gamer.net

Aoishiro is moving to the PC!
So for those without a PS2, this is your chance to see all the awesome CG and scenarios!
It’s great that Aoishiro has become popular enough to warrant a PC version.
Normally the conversion goes the other way from PC to PS2.
And since the PS2 versions of games must be an all-ages version, all ero CG are removed.
So since we’re going the other way, ero CG might be added???

Release Date: 11/21/2008
Price: 7140 yen (tax included)

The official site doesn’t have much info yet.
Let’s just hope the game isn’t hit by delays like the PS2 version…

Translation of the 4Gamer info

Aoishiro, a fantasy game for PS2 released on May 15, 2008 is being released by the same company for PC.
The release date is November 21, 2008 (Friday) and the price is 7140 yen (tax included). The target OS are Windows 2000/XP/Vista and will be 2 DVD-ROMs.

New Event Scene:

All the CG will be converted to high-res. It’s said that some pictures which were hard to release for the consumer version will be reworked and released as it was intended. The PC version will also have additional event scenes.

Retouched Event Scene:

Other changes will be to investigate the consistency between the many divergence routes and balance the number of appearances of the characters.
Compared to the PS2 version, the PC version will have increased story and visuals.

There will be 2 new stories that didn’t appear in the PS2 version:
“What happened in the days before the incident” and
“What happened behind the scenes during the incident”
Characters from the previous work Akaiito will also appear so…in the end what kind of story will develop?

In addition, pre-orders will include a CD with illustrations by Hal, wallpapers, system voices by the seiyuu and a new voice drama.

Update: Nov. 21, 2008

Received Aoishiro today.
Ordered it from the Success website.
Came with an extra disc and a telephone card featuring Aoi and Sakuya.

12Riven

shijima July 20th, 2008

Need another yuri visual novel to play but don’t really know any other ones. >__<

12Riven is pretty good though. There's both a PS2 and PC version.Official Site
Interesting plot. You play from the perspective of 2 people. The game switches to the other person throughout the game.

One is Renmaru, a high school guy, who suddenly receives a phone call saying that his childhood friend will be at the roof of an abandoned highrise and will be killed.

The other is Narumi, who is a police woman working for Section 12 of the government who also goes to the same tower to investigate.

No yuri, but one of Narumi’s co-workers, Makoto, really admired Narumi ever since Narumi saved her from drowning in a pool years back at that highrise that is now abandoned.

The guidebook by Jive is very nice, much like their other ones.

Yukizuru Makoto: 26 years old, 164 cm
Mishima Narumi: 27 years old, 165 cm + 7 cm (I guess the 7 cm are her heels)

Makoto’s thoughts. As for what’s she’s apologizing for, you’ll have to play the game. :)

Finished Aoishiro Demo Translation!

shijima July 17th, 2008

Finally finished the Aoishiro Demo! Download
It’s been almost 5 months but it’s finally done!

If you’ve gone through the web novel and manga, then most of the plot will be familiar, but you can go through part of Migiwa and Kohaku’s scenario.

Kohaku’s the best!

Syouko-san’s Happy Too!

Persona 4

shijima July 14th, 2008

Persona 4 came out last week so translation work has slowed down…
I’ve played a couple hours and if you liked Persona 3, it’s more of the same.
It’s apparently coming out in North America by December.

Spoilers for the first month of Persona 4 and Persona 3 below.

Pros:

  • Resembles Persona 3
  • Interesting Story
  • More cool guys and cute girls
  • More cool persona designs
  • Another great soundtrack
  • Option to control each player individually (good for boss battles)
  • Shortcut menu to jump to a location saving time on walking

Cons:

  • No Elizabeth! She was awesome! >__<
  • Quite hard to hit enemies from behind so sometimes the enemy gets the advantage if you miss.
  • Can’t continuously farm in the dungeon since the map and chests are fixed for a given night and you don’t recover your HP/SP by leaving the dungeon. (At least on the first dungeon this is true)

Any hints of yuri?
Well…Yukiko did call Chie her prince…but she wasn’t herself…

Chie: 3 princes…do you mean I’m included?

Yukiko: Chie..fufu..that’s right. My prince…

She looks like this though…
